SAN MARCOS: A 19-year-old Encinitas man died and another person was injured in a car crash yesterday morning at West San Marcos Boulevard and Acacia Drive.

Salvador Alberto Ventura was a passenger in the front seat of a sport utility vehicle that was speeding when it collided with another vehicle that was making a legal left turn, the Medical Examiner's Office said.

The 9:55 a.m. crash sent the SUV spinning into a utility post, pinning Ventura inside. Other motorists stopped and called 911, but paramedics later determined that Ventura died shortly after the crash.
