An obituary for Chuck Valverde published yesterday had the wrong date for his memorial service. It will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at the Scottish Rite Center, 1895 Camino Del Rio South in Mission Valley.

A story about an Encinitas surf shop in some editions Sunday omitted a paragraph about boards from China, making it sound as if John Kies was saying that the quality was poor for boards made at the shop's San Diego factory. In fact, he was describing the low-cost, factory-produced boards from China.
