Three-time Olympian, 61, still cycling, coaching
Nov. 21 (UNION-TRIBUNE)
John Howard represented the United States at the 1968, '72 and '76 Olympic Games in road cycling. He won the Ironman Hawaii triathlon in 1981 and placed second at the inaugural Race Across America in 1982.
“He's the godfather of cycling in San Diego County,” Competitor Magazines co-publisher Bob Babbitt said.
